My to-be-read pile is slowly transferring from e-book to physical books. Great news for me, not so good for my husband who is tearing his hair out over where we can put them all. But there’s always room for books though, right? If there’s not, get a bigger house. Simple! (I wish it were that simple.)
Still, the feeling of having physical books to pick up and read is awesome and completely addictive. Since a lot of these books are coming from review requests, it’s meant a lot of them drop straight onto my doormat and who wouldn’t love coming home to books at the front door?
Just lately, I’ve added some really unusual titles to the to-be-read pile from genres that I hadn’t dreamed would exist ten years ago, but I’m super glad they do. This week’s book on the TBR pile is from a highly unusual genre that I’m really looking forward to exploring in depth:
This genre, or I guess sub-genre, has been rising in popularity lately and I have to admit, I’m intrigued: the vampire pirate sub-genre. Sounds as crazy as vampires in space, right? Well don’t worry, that’s a whole other sub-genre too!
Vampire pirate books look amazing. Sometimes set in fantastical world, sometimes our own, these books tend to feature historical adventures on the high seas, with vampires! The vampire thing has generally lost its momentum but I can see this sub-genre taking off. I already kinda feel like a fan.
I got Sea of Darkness a while ago and it’s been sitting on the TBR pile for far too long. I can’t wait to see what these vampire pirate books are really about.
Until then, here’s the blurb:
“The Society’s sole purpose is to protect the general population from vicious Sea Shadows, and Kelia’s their top Slayer. But when her father is murdered and her handler insists it’s suicide, she starts to question whether The Society really has her best interests at heart.
Now, to solve her father’s death, Kelia must work with an unexpected ally: Drew Knight, an infamous Sea Shadow and the most beautiful creature Kelia has ever set eyes upon. A Sea Shadow who, without intending to, just may show her who the real enemy is…and it’ll only cost her one unnamed favor to be collected at a future date.
But after her affiliation with Drew Knight is discovered, Kelia is forced to choose between what she’s known since the beginning of her existence…or a dark, terrifying truth that puts her life at risk.”
Naturally, there’s a little romance going on here, so it promises to be quite a busy book. From a USA Today Bestselling author and a New York Times Bestselling author, Sea of Darkness looks like it’ll be a quality read and I’m really looking forward to picking it up.
Where can I get it?
I think the authors decided to go wide with this book, so it’s not available on Kindle Unlimited, however, it’s got a pretty decent range in terms of availability. E-book, paperback and audiobook are all available on Amazon right now and the prices are pretty reasonable for e-book and paperback.
Thanks for reading! Read what other books are on my TBR pile here!
