Every day we should thank the heavens there are no rehab programmes for bookaholics. Some of us might well need it, and if the first step is admitting it, none of us would ever recover. Right now, I feel like I need rehab for time travel fiction. It’s one of my favourite sub-genres.
I don’t know what it is, but there’s something about taking a modern day protagonist and throwing them into the past or the future for an action-packed adventure. For sure, these inadvertent time-travellers are always out of their depth and the stakes are some of the highest.
Recently, there haven’t been nearly enough time-travel books on my to-be-read list and I wanted to put some new additions on there. Yes, I know, the pile is big enough and I shouldn’t put more on it but as you know, it’s not that easy.
So, here is the newest addition to the pile:
This book was recently a part of a box set that hit the USA Today Bestseller List, despite several hurdles. We’ve reviewed two of Anna’s books already on The Secret Library Book Blog: one of her earlier novels, Protected and part one of a duology, A Hunter Within. I really enjoyed these two so I’m really looking forward to reading this one especially because it’s time-travel.
The addition of vampires and shape-shifters make this all the more enticing. One of my favourite books Out of Time by Monique Martin (review here) captures many of these elements too and honestly, it’s a winning formula for truly entertaining books.
Here’s the blurb:
“A stranger thrusts Ember Brighton into another time, where she learns her crumbling life has a greater purpose. Pursuing this new life, however, will leave her loved ones in danger until she realizes who she is and what she’s capable of. If she fails to work quickly enough, her mother’s deadly fate will be sealed.
When the confident and mysterious Rane Andersson shows up at all the right moments to help, Ember can’t help but distrust his motives. Without him, though, she’s left with more questions than answers, and more people trying to kill her than she can fight off alone.
Despite her reservations, she’s forced to put her faith in him. Now Ember’s running out of time to find her way home, save her mother, and fix the balance of time itself.
Will her run-ins with rogue vampires and evil shifters prove to be more than she can overcome? Or can Ember face her destiny head on?”
Where can I get it?
Now able to stand alone outside the box set, The Time Traveler’s Magic is available on Amazon in e-book and paperback format.
Thanks for reading!
