You know what I haven’t read enough of in ages? Angels!
I went through a phase in my teenage years reading tons of angel books and loads of the stories I used to write had angels in them, too. I’ve read a few since, here and there, including Julie Hall’s Huntress (check out The Secret Library review here!) but not nearly enough.
So here’s the angelic book I’ve got on my to-be-read pile right now:
Heavenward by Olga Gibbs
“In a dull and misty English town, an ordinary girl lives her trying life.
But alongside her boring world another world lingers.
The world of angels: with Heaven and Hell, with cities, suspended high in the skies and cities, hidden deep beneath the surface, with creatures, harvesting humans… and prophecy of assassinated archangel one day reborn within a human.”
This book takes place in England which I love because I’m biased and I’m English. Books set in Britain really bring home the point of urban fantasy for me: that these awesome, magical adventures could happen around the next corner. The fact that they haven’t yet is a major disappointment.
Heavenward is really cheap on Amazon right now at 99c so if you fancy a new angel read here’s the link!
Thanks for reading!
