What's on the TBR pile?

What’s on the TBR pile?

Every so often in a reader’s life we find that author. That author who writes a book we fall in love with.

I’ve definitely found that new author to put on my Top 10 Authors shelf and all her books are now on my to-be-read pile. Reading every single book Kat Ross has ever written is now a life goal.

I’ve already reviewed two of her books: The Daemoniac (check out the review here) and The Thirteenth Gate (check out the review here) and I’m super eager to get stuck into the rest of the Gaslamp Gothic Series. So here’s where I’m going to start!

A Bad Breed by Kat Ross

“Pricolici.

A creature out of folklore. And nightmare.

January 1889. When a Romanian village suffers a series of brutal attacks, occult investigator Anne Lawrence is dispatched to the forests of the Old Country to hunt the killer – only to vanish without a trace.

The trail leads her mentor Vivienne Cumberland deep into the Carpathians to a remote monastery. As a blizzard rages outside, trapping them all with the pricolici, Vivienne risks sharing the fate of the woman she came to find. But is the culprit truly a werewolf … or something even more dangerous?

A man bent on revenge. And a love that was never meant to be.

Imprisoned in a decaying castle, Anne finds herself ensnared in a web of dark enchantment, at the mercy of a mysterious captor with a beast inside – and a memory as old as the ancient legends.

As the weeks pass, Anne learns his real identity, and slowly uncovers a complex and deeply passionate man. But is she willing to pay the price for falling under his spell?”

* * *

This series has thrown me for six a little bit because while this is the third book in the series, it’s also a standalone. But I’ve read enough of Kat Ross’ books to feel pretty confident that it’s still awesome.

After looking at all the series she has written so far, I’m actually quite surprised at how few reviews she has. These books are ridiculously well written, the covers are awesome and half her books are free, while the other half are 99c/99p! How is this lady not getting more attention?

Book one, The Daemoniac is free right now.

Book two,  The Thirteenth Gate is ALSO free right now.

And this one, A Bad Breed is only 99c/99p.

That’s basically a trilogy for 99c/99p, even though there are more books in the series! (Yay!)

Anyway, I can’t wait to get to this one when I finally get to it on my list!

Thanks for reading!

  1. I’ve been really into books with a supernatural twist or feel to them! I am happy I came across your blog. I also love series so that when I finish Book 1 I still have more to look forward to. I wanted to recommend a supernatural suspense book that sounds like it might be right up your alley. I recently finished “Ain’t No Messiah” by Mark Tullius (this is also a part of a series). The main character, Joshua, should be dead,  by all accounts. He has grown up surviving a number of deadly accidents that supports his father’s claim, he is the second coming of Jesus Christ. His father has very powerful ties and uses them to continue this lie making his cult-like followers truly believe Joshua is their savior. Joshua wants to escape this world and find happiness but seems to be in a hopeless situation. This book is dark, twisted, unique and my book club loved it. I am a huge fan of Chuck Palahniuk and Stephen King and this author definitely has a similar disturbing point of view. I really hope you will check it out. Here is the author’s website if you want to read more about the book!
