The Teen & Young Adult Paranormal & Urban Fantasy chart is seeing very little movement this week. Blood Trial is still #1 which is amazing but also a little annoying. Let me know when you’re going to hop down from there, Blood Trial.
Also, yet more traditionally published and mainstream books are finding their way to the top and staying there. Now we’ve also got a book from the Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series, which is sure to follow Philip Pullman up to a fairly lofty perch (pun entirely intended and not sorry).
So, this week’s book is from all the way down at #14:
“I’ve been locked away my whole life, because my alpha thinks that I’m an embarrassment.
I’m the runt of my panther pride—not good enough, not strong enough, and different than everybody else. Then I get the letter.
Shifter Academy says that my enrollment is mandatory.
This is the chance I’ve been waiting for. Once and for all, I will prove that just because I’m a runt doesn’t mean I’m not strong.
I’m going to Shifter Academy, and not even my alpha can stop me.”

We don’t see a lot of panther shifters in the charts and it sounds like a cool take on the shifter trope. I plan to find a few panther shifter books to put on my ever-growing TBR pile.
The kind of plots I love involve the underdogs scrambling to the top. The Worst Witch was one of my favourites growing up, there’s just something really awesome about watching someone who is looked down on and belittled showing everyone what they’re really capable of. So this one is really intriguing me, even though the e-book price is a little bit up there. It’s definitely too much for my January budget, for sure.
You can check out The New Girl here – there are a few sequels on the way, too!
Thanks for reading!
