This week I’ve spent a lot more time playing video games than reading. I feel thoroughly ashamed but I can hardly be blamed. Civilization 6 and Pokemon Sword are the ultimate temptresses.
Having spent the last few weeks re-organising, planning series to write and writing Scorpio’s Virtue, I’ve taken this as a sign to take things easy a little bit. It’s a lot easier to cave in to the urge to relax every so often than burn-out and take weeks off to piece yourself back together.
Despite reading a little less, I’ve gotten through more books! My husband secretly ordered yet another Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novel Smoke and Shadow and I read it in one sitting. It’s got to be my favourite of the Avatar graphic novels so far, absolutely loved it! (A full review is coming next Wednesday!)
Next, I’m on to the last fantasy book I accepted from my inbox: The Spinner’s Child by Crispina Kemp and it’s starting out to be a pretty good read. Lots of Viking vibes but from a more magical angle. It’s quite a long book so I’m glad to get ahead of my reading schedule a bit with Smoke and Shadow just so I can take the time to enjoy it.
In more personal news, my debut novel Scorpio’s Grace got its latest 5-star review yesterday from the lovely Flora who has a highly acclaimed urban fantasy and speculative fiction book blog, Flora’s Musings. Be sure to check out her book blog and her amazing Scorpio’s Grace review!
Thanks for reading!
