Reading Catch Ups

Reading Round-Up: 25th September – 1st October 2020

Happy Halloween month!

I reserve the right to get excited about something this year (apart from birthdays – that’s a given!). Halloween is the perfect excuse. Yes, we might not get any trick-or-treaters this year and all the events will be cancelled. But that doesn’t mean we can’t sit in our home surrounded by lit pumpkins, eating candy and watching scary movies.

The more I think of it, the more I wonder why this isn’t a weekly tradition rather than something we do once a year!

This week reading definitely fell off my to-do list and smashed into a million pieces. So did a few other things, like knuckling down on Scorpio’s Virtue and work on my new series. It’s super disappointing when all the stuff that makes your life rich gets pushed to the side for life-administration. Work and planning to move house has definitely sucked away most of the week.

In this coming week I’ve decided not to make any promises. Only to sit down, work hard and try not to let anything distract me. With that goal in mind, something has to get done.

I’ve already made time for reading and the book I’ve chosen is a fairly good read. Connected is a coming-of-age urban fantasy about a young girl discovering her supernatural talents. I have some thoughts but it’s a pretty cool book so far.

In the haze of business, I have no idea what I’ll be reading next but I do know that Sarah Painter is somewhere next on my list so that’s a good place to start. If you follow the blog regularly, you’ll know how much of a Sarah Painter fan I am! I’ve already 1-clicked books two and three in her Crow Investigations Series (thank you payday!) so they are probably going to feature on the blog at some time in the near future.

It seems like the closer we get to Christmas, the less people talk about the books they read. Is it because we’ve all stopped going on holiday? (If we went at all, this year).

I’d love to know all about the five-star books you’ve read recently and what you liked about them. Drop me a comment if there’s a book you’d love to recommend!

Thanks for reading! Did you know that I write urban fantasy books too? Check them out here!
