Shifter fiction is as popular as ever but I’m secretly hoping it will take a new direction away from wolves to something a bit more novel. Wolves have had their run just like vampires did, which, although it’s still going strong, has taken a back seat in urban fantasy and paranormal romance fiction.
In fact, this whole alpha thing is wearing a bit thin now. I’d love to see some really out-there shifters like foxes, snakes or even smaller birds like finches. I know it’s not quite the same as a big, bad wolf coming to your rescue but there’s surely some really interesting potential in other shifter species.
Speaking of which, I have on my TBR pile, this little gem:
“The stakes are higher than ever…
As I recover from my last trial where I was confronted by the darkest creatures in history, I hoped things would return to my normal, peaceful life. Not a chance. With my return to Oklealia academy and the arrival of a new headmistress whose inhuman ways turn the academy into a jail, my plate is full enough, but signs of an upcoming threat awaken my fears once more.
Time is running out— for me and the world. When the final battle arrives, will I make the right choice?”

I’ve got to read book one of this series but I’m actually going to read this one first. I’ve got an ARC copy! It might be a bit of a challenge to read it in time but its book cover has lit a fire under me.
The Shifter’s Revenge is due to release at the end of October which carries on the story of Violet. A girl living an ordinary life until she follows a white rabbit and embarks on the fantasy adventure of a lifetime.
This book has a rabbit shifter which alludes to Alice in Wonderland. It’s a great example of a really unique shifter book. It’s going to be an interesting read for sure! My reading has really picked up lately and I’m hoping to keep my hot streak. If so, I might finish this book by the end of October all ready for release day.
Thanks for reading! Did you know I also write urban fantasy books? Check them out here!
