Reading Catch Ups

Reading Round-Up: 16th – 22nd October 2020

Buying a series all in one go is the only way to binge read. Netflix is a breeze, you don’t even have to press a button to get your next fix. Books mean book budgets and that can really put a cap on enjoying a series. That’s what happened to me this week!

Yesterday I reviewed The Fox’s Curse, third book in the Crow Investigations series. Book four just came out a few months ago and I really wanted to get it. My bank account laughed in my face. We’re just about to move house and with all the expense involved, I’ll have to wait a little longer to be able to read it.

I moan because I can, because actually I have no reason to. I have so much to read but when you get invested in a character and there are so many unanswered questions, sleeping ain’t too easy. It’s hard enough as it is if you’re an Anxious Author.

This last week sleeping has been harder for a few reasons. One is our neighbours apparently no longer have jobs so having a kitchen rave at 2am on a Tuesday is, y’know, fair game. But mainly, we’re just too excited that we are finally moving out of London!

I may have mentioned this before but for the exact same rent we are paying for our tiny one-bed in London, we will soon have a 3-bed house. That means my own office space where I can really start running a business. No more hunching over the coffee table doing my back in while listening to my simply stellar neighbours taking up the steel drums. (I’ve already picked out the day planner I’m going to buy as a move in present, don’t tell my husband)

While this isn’t going to help with increasing my book budget, it’s going to help a lot with writing. Which might increase my book budget later? Keeping my fingers crossed for that one. With a quiet space to work that doesn’t have my TV or Nintendo Switch in it (Civ 6 and Skyrim are my Achilles heels), enhanced productivity might be an option. You could say I might level up! Yeah, OK, I’ve definitely been playing too many video games.

This week has definitely been exciting, both book-wise and life-wise and I really can’t wait for next month when we get to move! In the meantime, I’ll just try and bury my head in my pillow to drown out the sound of Skrillex.

Thanks for reading! Did you know I also write urban fantasy books? Check them out here!
