What's on the TBR pile?

What’s on the reading pile? I don’t know!

Uncomfortable reality setting in: I’m currently unable to buy books.

This is the price I pay for throwing all that I have into my dreams and for clarity, I regret nothing. While I’m still in the investment stage of this authoring venture, I need to cut back on everything. That means getting hold of free books or spending 99p on them when they’re on sale every so often.

I will never, ever stoop to pirating. It’s disrespectful to the authors and enables an industry which profits off cheating and stealing. I hope all those awful pirates invested in short stocks last month.

So, I’ve decided to get a bit more stuck into the world of ARCs. I’m about to join BookFunnel and blow the dust off my old NetGalley account in an attempt to read some quality indie books for free. I enjoy paying for books because I know first hand what it’s like to get a book sale as an indie author and there’s nothing like it. I can’t wait to start paying for books again.

However, until then I will gladly accept the generosity of authors looking for reviews and read ARCs. So this is less of a discussion about what I’m reading next and more a shout-out about what The Secret Library is all about.

The Secret Library is a book review site, so I invite urban fantasy and fantasy authors to check out my review policy and request a review if you are looking for a review. I accept books that are new or old but there is a screening process. I have taken gambles on books with poor covers in the past just to give the benefit of the doubt, however, more often than not the quality of work reflects the cover. Always make sure you have a good cover, it makes all the difference.

Here are the cliff notes: if you’re looking for a review for your fantasy book, I’d be happy to read and review!

In 2021, I am also planning to revive the New Release feature which runs every Saturday. Similarly, if you have a new fantasy book coming out that you would like some eyes on, shoot me an e-mail. Again, covers are important, as are blurbs. But I enjoy giving shout-outs to indie authors with upcoming books and I’m not in it for the money. This is a completely free service that I have absolutely no plans to monetise.

So if you, or anyone you know, has a book/books that meet these criteria, feel free to get in touch. The worst that can happen is a “no”. I look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you for reading! Did you know I also write urban fantasy books? Check them out here!
