What's on the TBR pile?

What’s on the reading pile – Born In Fire

The problem with the indie book world is that you have to rely entirely on either online ads or word of mouth to hear about even the most popular indie authors. Who knows, maybe this will change in the future when self-publishing is taken a little more seriously. Finding awesome indie authors isn’t difficult, but you do have to do some digging at times.

I recently decided I wanted to have a better idea of who the big players are in the genre I write, and read their stuff. It sounds weird even to me, but I don’t consider these authors my competition. In the first instance because I’m such a tiny fish right now that I am no competition for them at all. But primarily because I know that their rise to success was a matter of hard work and smart thinking. Connections help in this business, but it means next to nothing if you don’t have the goods to back it up. I have a lot of respect for these authors, and I truly admire them.

So, I’ve made note of several popular indie authors and a few up-and-comers who I want to read. And I thought I’d start here:

“Supernatural Bounty Hunter isn’t the sort of thing you see on LinkedIn. But with a rare type of magic like mine, I don’t have many options.

So dangerous or not, the job is mine. And it was going fine, until an old as sin vampire stole my mark, and with it, my pay day.

Knowing I’m poor and desperate, he has offered me a job. I’ll have to work by his side to help solve a top secret case.

Everyone knows not to trust vampires. Especially a hot elder vampire. But without any other jobs coming up, I’m stuck. As I uncover a web of lies and treachery, revealing an enemy I didn’t know existed, the truth of my identity is threatened. I might make it out alive, only to end up in a gilded cage.”

K.F. Breene is dominating the charts right now, and her books not only look amazing, but after looking at the blurbs, they look original in the best ways. No wonder they’re beasting those charts!

I’m intrigued, and this book in particular has to go on my TBR pile. I can’t wait until my book budget gets a little bigger, and I can buy a few more. I have no doubt all those five star reviews are well earned.

Thanks for reading! Did you know I also write urban fantasy books? Check them out here!
