Hello Freebie Friday!

The more I look up free books to feature on Fridays, the more I realise that many authors are utilising the “free first in series” technique to build a readership. This method uses the first book in the series to entice readers to buy the following sequels by allowing readers to get invested in the characters and their story free of charge, and hoping the readers will feel compelled to continue.

I don’t use this method, because lots of people go freebie-hunting (like I do for this feature!) and that isn’t a bad thing. But unless the book is fan-freaking-tastic *cough* *cough* Ink Witch *cough* *cough*, I could take or leave a sequel.

I’ve got high hopes for this one though:

“Some things are worse than death…”

Keep your head down. Don’t cause a scene. And never make friends.

These are the rules I have to live by to survive. After Vykens, mutated and soulless vampires killed my parents, I know they will come for me next.

As an Aura, I can manipulate the light within me, the same ancient light Vykens feed on. It’s supposed to be a sacred power, one used only for good and to help others.

But if I want to survive, I’ll have to defy the Auran Council and learn to use my rare ability as a weapon.

Now I’m caught in something even bigger than I can understand, with a power I can’t wield, and no one I can trust, except, just maybe, a mysterious stranger who’s captured my heart, making him the biggest danger of all.”

Vykens are new on me, and I have no idea if they are part of mythology or made up by the author but they sound freaking cool. I’ve got this book in my Kindle ready to go, and we’ll see if it’s addictive enough for a sequel!

Here’s the link to get a copy of First Magic free on Amazon.

Thanks for reading! Grab Valkyrie Cursed, my new urban fantasy romance novel, and on KU, here!
